News Flash - Singapore Bike Fest 2008

Get ready to soak up the fun and festivities happening at the upcoming Singapore Bike Fest 2008, now in its third year running. On the 2nd and 3rd of August, head down to the Kallang Leisure Park at Carpark G for an exhilarating line-up of biking events, live band entertainment, contests, bike stunts and beautiful bike babes.

Singapore Bike Fest 2008 promises a wider range of new display models from Singapore and around the world with a unique mix of European and Asian bike models and accessories. Leading brands like Ducati, KTM, Husqvarna and Daelim will be on showcase.

Open to proud owners of bikes encompassing all makes and models, the best bike competition is sure to whet appetites with its delightful eye-candy of sexy souped-up lean mean riding machines. A walk down memory lane, on display will be some vintage Japanese bike from private collectors!!

If you prefer to get down all hot and sweaty instead, flex your fine mechanic muscles in “So you want to be a Mechanic”, pitting your skills against other amateurs in a friendly, heart-pumping competition.

Not to be missed is definitely the highlight of the event where stunt riders from Speedzone, Errol Yeo and Jonathan Tan put on an impressive stunt display aimed to thrill, tease and raise eyebrows. We also have with us two unit of ATV – All terrain vehicle to spice up the show.

A spectacular prelude to the festival is a bike convoy dubbed East Meets West during which two groups from the “East” (East Coast Carpark H) and the “West” (West Coast MacDonalds Carpark) will converge and head for Kallang Leisure Park. Interested participants may sign up for this event at a minimal fee of 15 dollars to get a complimentary goodie bag that includes a helmet bag, official event T-shirt and vouchers.

Also keeps a lookout for our Singapore most popular bike groomer – Team ShineZ who will be providing their grooming service at the show, a nice wash after a long convoy will be nice we suppose.

To add the merriment and cheer, expect fireworks to light up the evening sky on the 2nd of August with the NDP preview parade taking place in the vicinity.

Singapore Bike Fest 2008 is supported by the Traffic Police and the Singapore Tourism Board. For more information, please visit the official website at www.singaporebikefest.org.

About Singapore Bike Fest 2008

It has been brought to our attention that rumors or misleading information on Singapore Bike Fest and SBF - commonly referred as Singapore bikes forum (http://www.singaporebikes.com) in acronym, known as our Singapore most popular bikers forum is the same or rather are involved.

We will like to officially announce that Singapore Bike Fest, being renamed from Singapore Big Bike Fest is because the organizing members felt that the fest is meant for all bikers. Irregardless of what capacity, can be small, medium or big bikes? More importantly, it doesn't matter what makes and models, as long as you are bikers be it past, present or now, all are welcome!

At such, by removing the word "Big", we have unknowingly created a misleading or misconception that SBF is also Singapore Bike Fest or somehow related. We hope that by this note, we are able to clear the air. And due to time constraint, we are not able to clarify and react on it earlier than expected, and regret that much damages has been done. We, as one of the co-organizers and the Official Bike magazine for Singapore Bike Fest 2008, hereby will like to extend our most sincere apologies to whoever that is affected in our due negligence, especially to Singapore Bikes Forum.

Let's this be a lesson for us, and give us some room for improvement. At such, we will like to make known to everyone that, it's never the organizers intention to create such a misleading or misconception at this point of time. We only wanted to create an event that all bikers can enjoy, so do take part in our "East meet West" convoy and stay for FREE fireworks display on the 2nd Of August 2008. Which happens to be the National Day Parade

Dynamic Changes

True to our form of being an ever-evolving entity, Bikers Inc is joining forces with some heavyweight industry players who can contribute back to the motorcycling community that we fervently work or. Unfortunately, with such fundamental changes weighing down on us, we have not been able to work as rapidly as we would like to, causing the release of our much-anticipated third issue to be delayed.

We are working closely with our advertising partners to seek their understanding and continue their support of our tireless efforts, but in the meanwhile, we would like to ask for our readers' understanding as well, as we work towards the earliest possible release date for the third issue in June. We are committed to the cause as ever and invite concerned readers and other partners to seek clarification with us via email as necessary.

Thank you for the continuous encouragement and offers of assistance that pour in everyday, they certainly keep us going in these challenging times.

Malaysian Super Series Round 1 - SIC

The MSS - Malaysian Super Series is back once again with more action-packed, this time round the teams at Bikers Inc witnesses the round 1 action on 12 - 13 April 2008 at the Sepang circuit. They mingle with the competitors and local team and had an enjoyable experience, well done to all Singapore racers - The sportsmanship and team spirit is well felt and this time we saw a great increase in the local and local expat taking part in the MSS. The roaring sound of the Superbike and Supersport make the whole circuit lively.

We went well prepared for the photo shooting but the action over there is so intensive and exciting that our Accounts Director simply can't resist and arm with his handphone he record some video footage and the management decided to make it available online for all bikers, enthusiasts as well as race fanatics to download the "not so high res " footage contributed by our Accounts Director.

We spotted an individual competitor racing with Triumph Daytona Triple in the Supersport series, rider is Ahwai backed by Mah Pte Ltd and Sporting Motor he is going for some serious action in this 2008 MSS, a further discussion with him disclose that many competitions is not too happy with the Sepang circuit, as they have all feedback that timekeeping seems quite far out, transponders on bikes seems to be giving problem and resulting in some mistake in the results, a further random check with about 10 competitors also feedback to us the same as what Ahwai has commented.

We hope to see everyone again in the round 2 and shall be covering the whole MSS series to bring to all our readers information on the race, do watch out for the articles and photos in our issue 3, and soon we will be publishing some photos here after we process all the images, till than ride safe and ride hard everyone!!

Back From 'Sabbatical'

We just wanted to let all our readers know that we are back after one and a half months of working on the second issue. The issue is being printed as we speak and barring any unforeseen circumstances with respect to the distribution process, you should be able to get your copy from the newsstands sometime in the second week of March.

For those who thought that the blog had 'died', we are sorry that we could not maintain regular updates here whilst working on the issue at hand. We are also in the midst of appointing a resident blogger to 'man' the blog to avoid a lapse like this in future.

Well, for now, let me offer a glimpse of what the cover will look like - so that all of you don't miss it.....

Singapore Series MX Championship - Round 1

Another milestone was achieved in Singapore on Sunday when the inaugural race was held at the Tuas Motorcross Track - popularly known as Circuit@Tuas. The Singapore Series Motocross Championship saw a huge turnout of about 50 participants over 4 categories. The practice sessions for the participants were held on Saturday and this was followed by the race proper on Sunday morning.

A well executed event, the Singapore Series Championship looks all set to be an eagerly anticipated event with another 4 rounds to go over the rest of the year. The turnout was extremely encouraging with a healthy portion of 'unaffiliated fans' (ie. other than the family and friends of competitors) making their way down to the Tuas racetrack.

The weather was very accommodating as well and it was bright and sunny right up to the prize presentation ceremony. The blessings of the skies were coupled with some composed and professional marshalling by the organisers, who had thought of everything. Keeping things flowing whilst maintaining effective control of the large pool of participants as well as the sizeable crowd, the EZ Motorsports team would have been easily mistaken for a veteran outfit with years and years of race management experience.

However, no competition is without an element of danger and the inaugural event inevitably saw the first race accident in the second Expert category race (the very last race) for the day. The avid rivalry between 2 riders consequently resulted in a simultaneous take-off at the main tabletop. A truly exciting moment for the fans at the grandstand, the riders' handlebars unfortunately clipped with each other and caused one of the riders to lose his balance in mid-air. Sympathetic groans erupted from the stands naturally as the rider then landed awkwardly just after the downslope.

As they say, in every moment of despair there is a ray of goodness to be seen, and likewise, everyone witnessed a show of sportsmanship from the other rider, who immediately stopped his bike and ran to the aid of his injured comrade. The marshalls too immediately sprang into action to alert the other riders in the race of the impending obstacle and move the fallen rider and his machine to safety - all whilst ensuring the continuous smooth flow of the race itself.

In the end, the injured rider was none the worse for wear and he eventually managed to walk away - albeit with a slight hobble - not without first giving our Bikers Inc photographer an emphatic smile for the records.

A truly successful event, Bikers Inc looks forward to being a part of the countless number of races that have been lined up for 2008.

Storm Riders Set Off On Another Adventure

The Storm Riders set off on yet another adventure yesterday evening - dubbed the Laos Expedition. The hardy group of 'Adventourers' embarked from LC Food Court at Tanjong Katong Road towards Hatyai via the North-South Highway at about 8.45pm (11/01/2008). The expedition will be covering a total of 8,900km of which 5,800km will be by bike. The team will be visiting about 11 towns in Thailand and Laos over the next 18 days.

A show of strong support was witnessed at the send-off as members of the motorcycling community as well as those from the media gathered merrily at the carpark next to the food court. According to the expedition leader, Alex Quah, Mediacorp 8 will be showcasing their journey on 1st Feb 2008.

Our team was on hand as well to capture the mood and atmosphere and it was a truly amazing spectacle as the convoy rode off together. One of the Bikers Inc team members was also involved in escorting the convoy right up to the Tuas Checkpoint whilst a few other supporters attempted to follow the convoy by car to Tuas but were hampered by a massive traffic jam along AYE.

Unsurprisingly, the Storm Riders crew were able to easily negotiate their way through the jam leaving the supporters to grudgingly turn back at the next available exit. The convoy was soon well on its way up the west coast of Malaysia and Bikers Inc looks forward to getting the journey 'log' upon their return and including this latest adventure on our pages soon.

Where Is The Love?

The Bikers Inc project was in the planning stage for over half a year before our first issue was out and a lot of background work was done to ensure that this dream became a reality. The team here has fought many battles to gain the support of the various elements that make up the motorcycling community. From advertisers to marketing partners to supporters and to the readers, we have been constantly trying to gain their trust and support.

Fortunately, the toughest battle that we anticipated - getting in sync with the readers' hearts and minds - was in fact the easiest. Many readers and reviewers have readily commented that, for a new outfit, we are good enough and this has encouraged us tremendously.

Sadly, the same level of admiration and recognition cannot be said of some of the potential advertisers who steadfastly stick to the notion that they do not need to be involved. Although they have directly benefitted from our research and content in the first issue itself, they have declined to back us.

It is further surprising that some of these advertisers are in fact big players within the community. They do not understand that without all of us working together, the motorcycling community will not be able to grow - if we keep harping on the same issues and showcasing bikes and babes in the same way, then the whole community will be stuck in this 'old school' mindset indefinitely.

Well, we have presented our case to each and every advertiser who has failed to see the point of working together and supporting us and we will continue to do so. We are confident that they will, sooner or later, come to the correct perspective. Most importantly, we have the support of the readers which will eventually sway the most stubborn of skeptics.

Let those who doubt us live in their own world whilst we celebrate our achievements, accomplishments and success thus far.
